Balance and Direction

Have you ever ridden a bike?

Do you achieve balance better holding still?

Creeping along slowly?

Or by causing the tires to spin at greater speeds, using the mechanisms and gears to propel you forward?

This definition of balance suggests we use the many pieces of life (family, career, community, business, etc) to help us keep moving, and create a life we love.

It suggests growth!

Growth is achieved by moving.

Have you ever driven a car with no power steering?

The power steering in the van our teenagers drive is going out…

When the van in barely moving they really have to crank the wheel to get it to turn, but as the car get’s moving at higher speeds the steering becomes much easier (thank goodness).

I find it interesting that the Lord can steer our lives in each stage of balance…

First we learn to balance squarely on two legs…

Then we learn to swing those legs one at a time to achieve movement in life…

Then we learn to use the pieces of life to propel us forward and do good things…

The Lord often uses the movement in our lives to steer us or course correct us.

The only time He cannot direct us is when we are idle and/or avoiding direction or movement.

Even in the stillness of ‘standing still,’ if we are listening, He can direct us…
