I know our goal is to be forgiven so we can FEEL BETTER – now!
But as you can see, forgiveness looks a little bumpy sometimes…
And you might ask yourself, “Have I been forgiven?”
One day you feel like you are doing good, and the next day something happens that triggers you and you feel like you’re starting over again.
Here are some things that are helpful to remember when you wonder if you have been forgiven.
Guilt can be swept away (even by degrees), as you make changes’ AND you can feel joy in the journey.
You can be freed from despair and the bondage of bad habits; AND find peace by degrees, as you continue to make daily changes.
You can feel “godly sorrow” for your actions, AND gratitude that the Savior will help you overcome those actions.
Instead of focusing on IF you’ve been forgiven fully, focus on HOW you can improve each day.
If you allow yourself to feel forgiven by degrees it will help motivate you to keep making continual progress.
Christ is interested in your heart and where you are going more than how perfect you are at it.
Christ is interested in who you are BECOMING, and He uses the tool of repentance to help you get there.
–How do you recognize that you have been forgiven?

Hope in the Savior
Christ wants you to understand His willingness to forgive you… He WANTS to forgive you!!!
He knows your weaknesses and your struggles, and is not shocked by them. He also has compassion on you as you learn to overcome them.
He recognizes your efforts and encourages you forward.
Repentance isn’t just a one-and-done kind of thing…
It is a never-ending privilege to continue to choose “turning to Christ” over and over again.
In doing so, you build a relationship with Him (which is what He really wants).
And you develop a daily communication and connection with Him…
You then allow Him to “change your thoughts, words, feelings, and actions,” because you trust Him.
He becomes your best friend, your most trusted coach, and the one who can Save you from yourself and this world.
Christ’s enabling power of the Atonement gives us the strength to carry on, even when it’s hard.
Christ’s redeeming power teaches us holy patterns of living as we learn to overcome the natural man.
This brings HOPE to us, and helps us see that we are never out of reach for the Savior to help us…
He is IN the journey with you!
