Hopefully you are beginning to see how adversity is for our GOOD, and how we can navigate this adversity with less suffering, and more JOY!
One of the keys to allowing this to work is TRUST!
Our youth theme for the year is Proverbs 3:5-6.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
With all the unrest in our world and the uncertainty our youth often feel – this is a perfect scripture.
TRUST is a feeling…
It comes from believing that you are a daughter of God…
That you are loved by Him…
That He wants to bless you with the BEST gifts…
That He will be with you throughout your life (the good and the bad), and that He will be on your side!
Trust comes from believing that He will answer your prayers…
And when it seems like He isn’t there (cause you don’t see any physical evidence of it yet) He is working behind the scenes for your joy and happiness!
All of these THOUGHTS build TRUST!
**
Why do we not trust?
I like to know what to expect in my life…
What is going on each day, what I can plan for, how things are going to work out, etc.
This gives me a sense of control over my life and that feels good!
But sometimes I don’t know what to expect. Sometimes I need to make decisions I’m not sure about.
That feels scary!
I’m afraid to hand it over to the Lord, because I just don’t know how it will work out…
And what if it looks totally different than the way I thought it would?
Now I feel anxious, scared and uncertain. (yikes-do I really trust the Lord that He will make it all work for my good?).
And “all will work for my good,” doesn’t mean I will feel comfortable and happy the whole time.
I really want to feel comfortable and happy, don’t you!
Sometimes we are afraid to trust the Lord; it’s something we have to practice.
Because sometimes if feels wonderful, and other times we wonder if He really knows what He is doing, because we do not like the road ahead (lol). I assure you, though, He really will lead you down the best roads (even if they look a little rough and ragged sometimes).
If you are struggling to trust Him, that’s normal. (smile)
Use the thoughts in the previous post to help remind yourself of the trust you’ve felt before. Add to them other thoughts that help build that trust.
And hold on! It’s an exciting ride!
