Patterns of Righteous Living

David O. McKay once shared a vision he had…

“I beheld a beautiful white city… Trees with luscious fruit … and flowers in perfect bloom abounded everywhere.  … A great concourse of people [was] approaching the city.  Each one wore a white flowing robe.  …Instantly my attention … centered upon their leader, and though I could see only the profile of his features …, I recognized him at once as my Savior!

“The city … was His … the City Eternal; and the people following to him were to abide there in peace and eternal happiness.”

Pres. McKay wondered, “Who [are] they?”

“As if the Savior read my thoughts, he answered by pointing to [words in] a semicircle that …appeared above [the people], … written in gold… :

“These Are They Who Have Overcome the World – Who Have Truly Been Born Again!”

With this beautiful picture in mind, I am reminded of the most recent call from our Prophet today, Pres. Nelson…

He said, “I call upon you today… to BECOME this righteous people!”

It is with this backdrop that I want to discuss what “Overcoming the World” looks like this month.

**

Pres. Nelson has asked us to prepare “a people who are able, ready, and worthy to receive the Lord when He comes again…”

Are you able, ready and worthy to receive Him?  How?

He continues, “a people who have ALREADY chosen Jesus Christ over this fallen world,”

Have you ALREADY chosen Jesus Christ?  What does that look like in your life?  What are your patterns that lead you back to Him continuously?

Again, he continues, “a people who rejoice in their agency to live the higher, holier laws of Jesus Christ.”

Do we KNOW what those higher and holier laws are?  Are we EXCITED to be living them?

Take a minute to ponder these questions.  Pray about them and write down the answers you receive.

None of us are prefect in doing these things, but it’s good to check in and see where we are…

Do you have spiritual patterns that you can return to each day, and during hard times that bring you back to Christ?

Do you have patterns of expressing gratitude?  Patterns of receiving revelation?  Patterns of growing your relationship with Christ?

What are they?  What do you do? –Help me list patterns you see in your life or the scriptures below, so we can all learn from them…
